Here is a tip when planning a garden: Pick a Palet Here is a tip when planning a garden: Pick a Palette
Working within a color scheme will help you set a cohesive scene and prevent you from buying unsuitable plants in weaker moments. A thoughtful use of color in the garden, together with form and texture, will form the basis of your garden ideas.

In this planting plan, we used:
🍃 Verbena bonariensis
🍃 Iris Yedo Yoman
🍃 Stachys byzantina
🍃 Allium white giant
🍃 Polystichum polyblepharum

There are lots of simple but effective ways to ach There are lots of simple but effective ways to achieve dividing the garden into sections, while increasing the sense of privacy in key areas, too. They could be a structure such as an archway, trellis or pergola, or soft landscaping such as a low hedge or herbaceous plants - or a combination of several of these.

Tall, airy plants
Tall yet see-through herbaceous plants such as Verbena bonariensis or ornamental grasses used in the foreground suggest division - drawing the eye into the distance, which increases the depth of field and creates a sense of space.

Hedges
Consider the ultimate height you want a hedge to be and think about views that might be blocked. Low hedges formalise and delineate areas, whereas taller hedges will increase privacy and enclosure.

Archway
Simple archways come in a range of materials and create a 'door' from one area to another, adding immediate height. Once climbers mature, the structure often 'vanishes' visually.

Very excited to share this project which finalized Very excited to share this project which finalized design this week in Co. Louth, The house was on a lower level than the road and so as such privacy to the interior was an issue since its construction.

The house was also prone to overheating meaning our design must include passive cooling systems located to the exterior. Our response was as follows, a large scale timber pergola located to the dual sliding doors of the house.

Not only would this provide privacy but due to a clever slant of the top slats of the pergola it deflects the high summer sun but allows in the low winter one. The pergola is also bordered by deciduous trees meaning they will provide shade during the summer and allow for additional solar gain in the winter.

The garden boasts an outdoor kitchen, A west orientated dining area and a colorful sleek contemporary planting scheme to fit in with the house. A job well done to the designers involved in this project !

Magnolia 🌺🌿 Did you know that beetles are t Magnolia 🌺🌿
Did you know that beetles are the real pollinators of Magnolia flowers? Magnolias are considered to be among the oldest flowering plants, which evolved many million years ago, long before there were any honey bees.

This stunning tree flowers spectacularly in spring or early summer, displaying its abundant blooms on bare branches for maximum impact. There are also evergreen types with large fragrant blooms in late summer. They thrive in a warm, sheltered spot with moist soil and plenty of sun.

Here is a tip: For the smaller garden, Magnolia stellata with its starry white flowers is just stunning. Magnolia 'Leonard Messel' is also a beautiful choice for a tiny garden.

When designing your garden, you need to think abou When designing your garden, you need to think about great structure plants to create a backdrop and offer a sense of permanence no matter what season you’re in.

💡 Here is a tip: Mix in Ornamental Grasses and Shrubs
The variations in colour and texture of ornamental grasses provide structure, movement, and interest in planting schemes, even in the dead of winter. Ornamental grasses and shrubs are also a cornerstone of habitat-friendly gardens.
